WRESTLING WITH THE SPIRIT

This was done on a piece weathered cypress

found in the Atchafalaya basin

by an old Cajun man with piercing blue eyes.

He is one of the most imaginative people

I've ever encountered.

He gave me this huge piece of cypress

and one night 

while trying to interpret its New life,

I saw

an image of a giant beast

with beady eyes and flared nostrils

who was wrestling against an angelic heavenly helper.

Grabbing some white paint...

the boy-like figure was quickly drawn

to take on the spiritual beast 

that sneaks onto this worn and wooden canvas.

It is a call for all of us...

God's children..

to call on Him through prayer

so His unseen spiritual beings

can fight on our behalf  and 

our battles can be won.

Then... 

what tends to come with most of these art pieces...

I love it when the words flow out!!!

It is like discovering a hidden treasure of a long ago king!

Who Is He?

He is His

and 
He is yours.

He was created for you

to fight for you.

You can not see Him.

He awaits for the trumpet to blow

according to His Father's will

and your words.

He fights your battles

in the Spirit world.

It is up to you

to release him with your words

and claim victory in the battle of good and evil.

He is yours

This is a piece based on "What's in the Root produces the Fruit".... which is written along the side of the canvas.  Their are 12 roots leading to 12 limbs.  Very simple and peaceful to ponder.  I have it in my bedroom until it finds its future home.

PSALM 23

verses 1-4

The Lord is my shepherd, 

I shall not be in want,

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,  

they comfort me.

The wood was found in a pile of ashes.
 It was one of the last remaining pieces to survive the fire. 

It is a beautiful piece of cypress native to Louisiana and came from a house built in the 1900's
once used for simple home church meetings. 
The wood was fitting for the Psalm written for those in search for Peace and Guidance...
once surrounded by words of Worship...
finding itself in a blaze of fire...
resting in a forgotten pile of ashes...
transformed into a new creation with a message for all to see!!! 
May whoever receives this piece be inspired by its meaning. 

The front depicts a scene of serenity and peacefulness...
a field of green grass with views of quiet waters and blue skies. 
Who could want anything more than to experience this in the core of one's very soul. 

The back side reveals those fire-filled seasons when we find ourselves in a difficult time of life. 
May you be reminded that the One who created you will help you through the fire
and move you swiftly into a place of purpose.  

When you rest in HIM,
 you become a new piece of art 

with a hope-filled message for others to see.

These have a neat little story behind them.

While walking one day with my son,

I stumbled upon some really thin pieces of wood...

almost like thin slivers of shingles.

I knew I had to have them!!!

So, I went home and spread them out on our living room floor.

There were 12 in all.

I went to bed that night excited about

WOMEN AT THE WELL

A world seen through my heart's eyes...

A place where women go to refill their empty vessels

with spiritual water

to feed all

who are in need....

I love love love to do commissioned artwork!

  There truly is no better blessing 

than to be able to filter out the world and just get with Him, 

a piece of wood, a paintbrush and whatever else crosses our path...

All to send a beautiful message to the one it is being created for.

In this case,

it was for a 15 year old girl with beautiful spirit and

 a fiery red head of hair.

Josephine has always wanted to go red...

so she did!!!

The wood for this piece came from an old coffin from a very unique friend of the family who just passed away... 

Mr. Christenson... 

I don't even want to know why there was an old coffin in his shed... but I do love that it has been brought back to life...

revived into a new creation and

spreading words of encouragement to those who take part in it.

This old and weathered board

you see, 

you’ll find

me swinging 

with my Lord.

Dangling toes

with red stitched clothes

reminds me that 

He has my woes.

 Green green grass

with

 Blue blue skies

Sweetly sings 

Soft lullabies.

The tree of life

is what sprouts up

His tree of life 

our lifelong cup.

Sprouting 

Flowering, 

Fruiting 

in Me

and always always

 Protecting 

you see.

One by one

Adorns the battles 

for which 

He has won!

Swinging to and fro 

I go

Swinging through

my highs and lows.

Swing, swing, swing

with me

He holds my world

so I can BE!

Hanging from His limb

so strong

His mercy helps me get along.

Branches, branches

curl

unfurl

Yielding fruits

with hidden pearls.

He tags the branches

soon to fruit,

the ones 

for you

with fiery roots.

He ties a bow

of fiery cloth

to tag the future

that you shall walk.

Grow, grow, grow 

with me

and you will find 

my greatest 3:

Faith and

Hope and then there’s 

Love.

They truly are 

 in Me

to BE.

So...

I know you’ll surely find

we’re free!!!

And here is the scripture that stirred the message:

Love is patient
