Aaahhhh the sweet scent of Christmas!!!

Once the smell of an Evergreen Cypress tree 

grown North of I-10

enters our door,
 all the scary storage closets, 
tangled lights, sappy hands, prickly messes,
and dead ducks 
become worth it !

I truly do love it!!!!

After making it out 
ALIVE

from the Christmas storage closet,

life started to look a little brighter.

Reminiscing our yearly Thanksgiving ritual...

Thanksgiving is a special treat for me...

No groceries,

no cooking,

no cleaning!

Just a day of being thankful for all of our many blessings.

I don't know who Mary is....

My daughter loves....

more than anyone that I have ever known in my lifetime.

So... 

sometimes, a mom can use this to her advantage 

to cover up something she usually wouldn't eat...

Around my kids this bread is known as

WATERMELON AT THANKSGIVING?

Yesterday.... 

I found myself at the end of my rope.

Realizing that June Cleaver was not in my genetic make-up,

 I got in my car and drove to the edge of our property....
 turned off the car, the lights, the life around and just sat...
 hurting, wondering, praying, crying, questioning.... 

What was I doing?

Sadly nearing the bottom of the mason jar 

of  some homemade apple butter...

thought we could immortalize it into a blog

until another pot can be filled 

with the sweet smell of
apples and spice and everything nice!

A Family Duck Hunt

My husband is a true Louisiana sportsman 

and is raising our son to follow closely in his footprints.

He loves it when we are all together as a family in the duck blind 

and watching his favorite world awaken before our very eyes.  

It is truly a special moment to witness this world come alive!!!

So...

from their home to the desired destination.  

It takes approximately 1 hour from their home to get anywhere....

groceries, restaurants, clothes, movies, friends, etc....

we would take looonnnng car rides

wherever we needed to go.

It's a thing you do when you live way out in the middle of nowhere....
