ONE LOVE 2

I love how the Spirit of God is everywhere!
I believe He calls it His Omnipresence:
om-nuh-prez-uhnt :
present in all places at all times.

He is in you in me and everything we see.
His fingerprints are everywhere when we look for Him.
The sky, the trees, the flowers, the bees....

Today, I found Him in a sweet little church
that we usually wouldn't have attended had it not been for our daughter
singing in the school choir for its congregation.
I try not to get caught up in the denomination game
because it tends to try and stuff the Giant who created me
into a tiny box that wouldn't even fit one of the hairs of His Pinky Toe into it.

To me...
He is more magnificent
when I allow Him to be outside of the box.
All He left us was His Word
in the book form
which came to our world
in the flesh form
and guides us through this world
in the Spirit form.

So...
wherever I am, I look for Him!
Big churches, little churches, indoors and out,
happy times, sad times, the rich and the poor,
music, art, the old and the young,
flowers, trees, bugs.....
You name it... He is there!!!
Anyway, getting back on track..

Today, the Reverend spoke on one of my favorite bands of all time.
 U2
He even mentioned one my favorite versions of the song
ONE..

Press Play and Listen while you read on........................................................

when Bono and Mary J Blige came together
in the midst of Katrina to help raise awareness of those in need.
Little did Bono know,
his earlier written words became healing to a hurting world.
When God speaks through us...
His words are eternal...
They never die...

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

One
The sermon went on to investigate the origin of the song ONE...
and that the band was about to break up
until Bono went on the side one day and wrote these words in Godspeed.
The original version contained the words...
We got to carry each other....
but the lead guitarist, The Edge, disagreed with the lyrics
and revealed that it should be
 'get to'...
We get to carry each other...
The song went onto be one of the top songs ever written for the band.

I love how the Reverend Bono reminds me
that it's a privilege to help those in need.
Not a burden but a blessing.
And I do believe that is exactly what Jesus came down to our level for
to share with us and to show us....
We get to help one another get through it.
Not to argue about how to get through it
but to help.
As a result,
 His band reunited...
and as a result...
 another hope-filled message ignited
in their listener's hearts.
One Love

Walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
with all lowliness and humility, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love;

being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace"
(Eph. 4:1-3).
