Had a chance to go back in time...
to the quaint little Normon Rockwell town
of Natchitoches, LA.
If you've
never been, you must go and experience
a slice of yesterday's past.
A place where there's still a general store....
A place where red wagons
and memories can soar...
A place to uncover an aluminum dream
all shiny, not burnt...
Sweet Magnolias Magnolites
a must have for all Southern queens!
An oak filled maze
along this water's edge
whispers Huck Fin's name
slipping into a delightful lazy daze.
Life truly slows down in this sweet little town....
As the thickening of arteries
not making a sound
follow sweet scents of cracklins
that one seeks
and
now has found!
The bookstore on main street
employs
Cats with No Hats...
And the bald headed barber
next door to this cat
places
Opey's in chairs
to capture
all of his hairs.
A place where all snickers crossover
into a fried southern flare
and travel well beyond
no candy would dare!!!
"Fried Snickers,
Oh my!!!"...
My heart
says with a sigh.
Is this an ad for Fried Air?
or did the sign writer
drop dead in mid...
A place where you can walk down the snow flurried street
in a T-shirt and shorts
and 70 degrees.
This sweet little place concocts
snow from
a box...
this town is a trip....
they've outsmarted the fox!!!
Aaahhh the sweetness of nostalgia
has made a nest in this place....
The day turns to night
emerging rivers becomes light
the birth of Christmas
takes flight
giving true meaning
and sight...
May everyone have a chance to visit it!!!
Recommending Church Street Inn
as a good resting post
and the Pioneer Pub
as a good eating spot.

The kids and I were going to go this past Saturday but the weather deterred me. Hoping to go this coming Saturday! Any other pointers? Parking?
Josephine,
after reading your blog
which included fried hog
a cat with no hat
and an omitted porch dog.
Some 'fried air' to boot
I say, "You're a hoot!"
Can't wait to visit this quaint little town, your blog made me smile and replaced an old frown.
(hug)
