APPLE BUTTER IN A MASON JAR

Sadly nearing the bottom of the mason jar
of  some homemade apple butter...

So,
thought we could immortalize it into a blog
until another pot can be filled
with the sweet smell of
apples and spice and everything nice!

One of my favorite memories
is
apple butter on toast!!!

Yummy Yumm...

Found a great crockpot recipe
on one of my favorite websites...

Relish!

Thought I'd share it...

Made a few changes to make it a little more nutritious...

So, if you like the smell of apple pie
lingering through your house on a cool Fall day....
you have to try it....

And the best part..

You fix it...
and fagetaboutit!!!

In  a slowcooker,
throw
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup apple cider
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp allspice
10 Assorted apples cored, peeled and sliced
( I used Honeycrisp, Jazz, Granny Smith and Gala)

Cover and cook on Low
for at least 10 hours
( I cooked them for 2 days since it made my house smell soooooo GOOD).

Then I pureed it with a mini processor.
You can use whatever you have to get the consistency you want....

Place it back into slowcooker on High
and cook another 1 1/2 hours...
stirring a few times.

Place in bowl or about 2 large mason jars and place in fridge to chill.
The longer it chills, the more the flavors blend together.

(Remember... most of this recipe came from RELISH!)

Psalm 17:8
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings.
