HARVEST BEFORE THE STORM

6" x 5'
$375
I grew up in a tiny little town
4 (not 5) miles
north of the Louisiana line...
aka
Wilmot, Arkansas!

Yes..
 We did wear
shoes...
on special occasions.
Why wear them
when you worked so hard to toughen your soles up over the summer?
Shoes are for sissies!!!

No...
We didn't kiss our cousins...
We just had a lot of 'em.
Since there wasn't much else to do,
the Aunts and Uncles just kept makin' more.
They were everywhere!!

No...
We didn't shine any moons...
Moonshine was illegal in our county.
We were dry as a bone.
That's why my Dad would drive
1 hour to visit the K&B
on occasion to moisten our soil.
I think Mr. Walton got his idea for Sam's Club
when he caught sight of my dad walkin' out
with carts of remedy
to help cure the dryness of Ashley County.

Anyway
We were farmers.
living off the land
cotton, soybean, wheat
but the big bumper crop was
RICE!

Rice for acres and miles would dance across the horizon!
Dancin' and swayin' to the beat of the wind.
My favorite memories are these
and especially when the storms rolled in.
A bittersweet moment for the farmers...
Bitter during harvest time.
but
Sweet when the crops were looking
for the nearest K&B.

This one is done on a 5 foot long piece of old cypress board
from a 100 year old house.

ENJOY!
